How We Design Our Products

At AERIS LIVING, design comes first. The way a product is made follows the design — never the other way around.

It would be easy to start with a machine and ask what it can produce. We work in the opposite direction. We begin with how a piece should look, feel and function in a real home, and only then decide which of our capabilities — 3D printing, sheet metal, fabrication, finishing or hand assembly — will bring it to life. The result is a range that feels considered rather than manufactured.

It starts with a problem worth solving

A new product usually begins with an observation: a corner of the home that deserves better, a type of light that is hard to find, an object that is either beautiful or useful but rarely both. We sketch around that idea until the form has a clear point of view — a proportion, a silhouette or a detail that makes it distinctly AERIS.

From sketch to a resolved form

Sketches become 3D models and studies. We test proportion, balance and stance; we look at how a shade diffuses light or how a table carries weight. This is where a piece earns its character — the taper of a leg, the rhythm of a woven shade, the way an edge catches the light. We refine until the form feels inevitable.

Then we choose how to make it

Only once the design is right do we engineer it for production. Some forms are best realised as 3D-printed shades in plant-based PLA; others call for cut, formed and welded metal, powder-coated to a durable finish. Most pieces combine more than one process. The craft is in making those materials work together so the join is invisible and the object simply feels well made.

Designed here, made to order

Every product is designed in-house and made to order in India, finished by hand before it ships. That means less waste, tighter quality control, and pieces that are built to last rather than mass-produced to a price. When you buy an AERIS product, you are buying the design and the intent behind it — not just the technology used to build it.
